This week we are very pleased to welcome a new youth worker to our team in Tower Hamlets.
For over three years Dumaeza has been our lone youth worker in East London, but he has now been joined by Rukshana for a day a week. Rukshana continues to work as the Delivery and Development Officer for local youth work charity, Leaders in Community (LiC), having worked with them for 3.5 years, and joins us in a partnership between our two organisations.
Rukshana shared with us, “I am extremely excited about joining The Feast, as I truly believe in the vision and ethos of the organisation. I think the partnership between LiC and The Feast will compliment one another, and I look forward to being a part of the great work that will be produced in the process. “
The Feast works hard to bring young people together from different faiths and cultures, and so we are excited to be building a diverse team who are effectively and naturally connected with these different groups of young people. Rukshana has established strong links and programmes particularly with local Bangladeshi Muslim girls, which will compliment the trust that Dumaeza has nurtured with local churches and schools.
CEO Tim Fawssett said, “Increasingly The Feast is looking to work in partnership with strong local youth workers, adding value to the young people they care for by using uplifting and character-forming engagement with peers who are different. We are really looking forward to working with LiC and Rukshana, and achieving a lot together for Tower Hamlets young people.”
